TPO Single-Ply Roofing

Blair Roofing in Charlotte, NC

TPO, or Thermoplastic Polyolefin, is a variation of single-ply roofing typically used in commercial flat roofing. TPO roofing can be installed either mechanically or by ballast. One of the advantages to using a TPO roof is that its seams, once membrane edges are heated, cooled, and connected, are among the strongest of any commercial roofing material. This means that plastisizers will not be necessary for adhesion, which makes TPO one of the most environmentally friendly options for commercial roofing as well. From an aesthetic standpoint, TPO is versatile in that it can be white, black, or grey. White TPO is typically used when heat absorption needs to be kept to a minimum.

TPO Advantages
– Can come in white, which reflects sunlight and helps reduce cooling costs
– Environmentally friendly single-ply option due to the lack of plastics needed to adhere membranes
– Produces no chlorine or dioxins
– Comes in a variety of thicknesses
